Blog Tag - 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Tamar WeinbergDec 18 2006 | Blogging |
Well, after the joint tag on Chris and myself by Kim, here are 5 things you may not have known about me.
1) I grew up in Hollywood, Florida, where you don’t need to learn how to parallel park in order to get your driver’s license. I’ve been in New York since 1999, but I still don’t (really) know how to parallel park.
2) Like Aaron Shear, I began working in the IT industry. With a major in computer science (from Barnard College / Columbia University) mixed with jobs in computer networking, I tried to immerse myself in anything related to computers that I was able to tolerate.
I began working at 10e20 as a system/network administrator, and found SEO, which was previously foreign to me, to be a new creative outlet. Right now, I’m doing a mix of just about everything relating to web sites; I still have lots to learn in SEO, but I hope I’ll get there!
3) For a few months post-college graduation, I worked as a private investigator. (No, I didn’t spy on cheating husbands, but that’s always the first question I’ve been asked.) My job had me looking for different products both locally and abroad to see if any potential trademarks would be in conflict with other existing trademarks, for the most part. I never really knew why I was researching what I did.
4) On the entertainment front, I’m a big television fan, and I particularly enjoy 24, House, Lost, The Shield, Prison Break, and The 4400. My favorite music is rock/alternative, though there are too many bands and artists to narrow that list down. I also have grown up singing, and have been doing so almost all my life, from elementary school choir to high school choir to a cappella in college.
5) I’m an Orthodox Jew and know what Barry means when he says that it’s hard to find Kosher food outside New York.
It’s difficult to guess who hasn’t been tagged yet — so I’ll just go on and tag those who haven’t yet answered their blog tag calling: Nathan Weinberg (no relation to me), Kathy Sierra, Per and Susanne Koch, Cristian Mezei, and Shimon Sandler.

Jaimie also tagged me, so I guess now I HAVE to do a post.
Damn it, and I have to pack up for UK. Where will I find the time ?

December 18th, 2006 at 2:09 pmAlways interesting reading these revelations. I avoid parallel parking like the plague and go out of my way not to do it. I would like the private investigator role but I hear its more tedious than most people think. Thanks for sharing.

December 18th, 2006 at 2:18 pmThanks David. I’ve been avoiding parallel parking as well — and have largely succeeded.
The private eye thing was exciting, though very tedious. It required extremely meticulous attention to detail. I ran away from that to get married and now I am here.

December 18th, 2006 at 8:15 pmHollywood, Florida! I just read a story on Digg that said $400k or $500k (there was controversy) worth of cocaine was found on a beach there. I knew I was on the wrong coast… (j/k!)

Are Social Media Memes Overrated?…
An interesting discussion has arisen in the Cre8asite Forums where a member asks about the benefit of memes. What’s a meme, you may ask? These are the “Why I Blog?”, “My Favorite Charity”, etc. blog posts that list the site……
