Yahoo! Acquires MyBlogLog

Earlier Li Evans from Search Marketing Gurus reported seeing a post about MyBlogLog.com being acquired by Yahoo. The Marketing Shift post then mysteriously disappeared but could still be seen in Technorati (Li also grabbed a screenshot). This was odd because about two months ago TechCrunch reported that they were being acquired by Yahoo but then had to change the story to “in acquisition talks”. Well, Li just pinged me to let me know the deal did in fact go through and Forbes was already reporting on it:

The Internet portal has purchased Mybloglog.com, an Orlando, Fla.-based website that enables readers of web pages to leave information about themselves, building a social network among fans of such things as News Corp’s MySpace pages, commercial web publications, or personal weblogs, or blogs. Mybloglog also looks at reader behavior inside blogs, like what is being read and where readers go next, delivering information it can sell to web advertisers. Yahoo is not saying what it paid for Mybloglog, but knowledgeable sources said it cost a little over $10 million for the company, which first offered the service in July.

Congrats to Scott, Eric and Todd - you guys built an amazing product, really listened to feedback (like Scott here on 10e20 as late as this afternoon) and best of luck as part of Yahoo (more thoughts on the actual acquisition and fit later).
